LACHMA Board of Directors
I was born in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and immigrated to the United States with my family when I was three years old. We lived in Boyle Heights for about 13 years when my family moved to Pico Rivera. I now reside in Long Beach.
I became a U.S. Citizen in August 1985, and after graduating from high school I attended Rio Hondo College where I received an Associate of Science Degree in Paralegal Studies (1990). I later transferred to California State University Dominguez Hills where I received both my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Labor Studies (1998), and my Masters Degree in Public Administration (2000).
I started working for the County of Los Angeles on March 29, 1985, at the Department of Public Social Services as an Intermediate Typist Clerk. After a month and a half of working in the Intake Unit at the Belvedere Office, I was transferred to the Headquarters Offices working under Jake Aguilar. In 1989 I transferred to the District Attorney’s Office as a secretary and in 1992 I was promoted to Paralegal in the Compton Courthouse. In 1995 I transferred to the Sheriff’s Department and am now an Administrative Services Manager III in the Employee Relations Unit.
Besides the Los Angeles County Hispanic Managers Association (LACHMA), I also belong to the Los Angeles County Chicano Employees Association (LACCEA) where I am on the Board of Directors as there Treasurer. I have been a part of LACHMA since 2007, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors.
