Carol Sanchez has been employed by the Los Angeles County Probation Department for 34 years. As a Deputy Probation Officer she worked at Central Juvenile Hall, MacLaren Hall, Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall, Mira Loma Camp, and Probation Area Offices in Los Angeles, East Los Angeles, El Monte, and Pasadena.
Upon her promotion to Supervising Deputy Probation Officer she was assigned the position of Staff Assistant to the Chief of the Residential Treatment Services Bureau. She then spent six years in the Staff Training Office specifically responsible for the Probation Officer Field CORE Academy and Supervisor/Manager training. She was subsequently promoted to Probation Director and was the Department's Affirmative Action Officer for 5 years.
Other Director assignments included the Northeast Juvenile Justice Center, Intake and Detention Control, and Placement Administration. She was promoted to Bureau Chief, Placement Services Bureau in 2006 and in April, 2009 was transferred to the Juvenile Field Services Bureau as Bureau Chief.
Carol is a member of the Chicano Employees' Association, the Mexican-American Correctional Association and the California Probation and Parole Correctional Association. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from California State University, Los Angeles and a Master's of Science Degree in Counseling from California State University, Long Beach.
Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, she spent her adolescence and adult years in the San Gabriel Valley. Carol currently resides in the West Los Angeles area. Time permitting, she can be found on a "dance floor" or "tennis court."
